About Marshall
The Village of Marshall California is a wonderful family vacation destination and is only a short distance from nearby San Francisco California! One of the most valuable commercial crops of Marshall California is the tasty and salty oyster! Marshall California is home to half of the shellfish growers which have leased acreage in Tomales Bay California.
With such a bountiful crop, which is harvested from San Francisco Bay and Tomales Bay, clams and oysters are always available roadside and as fresh as one can get! The town of Marshall California also has a thriving dairy industry that began with the town’s namesake, David Marshall, as Mr. Marshall showed up from the east with cattle in the mid-1850s and got the milk flowing. Today, there are a couple of dairies still in existence and one of them is all organic! Any visit to Marshall California must involve a tall, nutritious, glass of cold milk and a few dozen oysters on the half shell!
Marshall California is home to the often traveled Millerton Point Recreational Area, where hikers can enjoy many great and unspoiled trails and exploratory discovery. Another great natural location, while in Marshall California, is Alan Sieroty Beach. This fantastic and isolated white sand beach is a great spot to have a romantic walk and just gaze out at beautiful Tomales Bay State Park!
Another fantastic family location is the State-owned Marconi Conference Center, where the children can run around and play it while the parents discover the interesting and Mediterranean-style hotel that now stands empty. In 1913, Guglielmo Marconi, the father of wireless radio, built the first trans-Pacific receiving station here. Marconi’s 28 room hotel was meant to house the workers that made the wireless radios and after RCA took over the site in 1920, the hotel was closed down forever. The town of Marshall California is a great place for a natural and outdoorsy family vacation, with what makes California great, the people and the environment.
