About Point Reyes Station
Point Reyes Station California owes its namesake and success, as a vacation destination, to the railroad that ran through the town for almost 60 years before until 1933. Originally the town was called Olema Station, however, the main property owner, a dentist from Novato by the name of Dr. Berger L., gave the town its lasting name way back when in 1883. Black Mountain, with its rolling hills and green peaks, surrounds the eastern border of the town and is named after the family of Dr. Burdell’s wife.
